There are a number of fun reasons to live in Nebraska.....Cicada is not one of them. I just have to vent for a minute about the cicada that charm us daily throughout the summer with their screaming noises, disgusting shells that they leave outside, their big black bodies that fall from trees and run into our windows at night (that part actually is fun because my husband thinks that it is someone penny-tapping us and goes running outside). So, here is a tribute to the lovely cicada.
Harbertsons, Wyatts, Collettes, Neeley's, Tufts, Wiliams and Dunns.....don't you miss them????

Acording to wiki: Some cicadas produce sounds louder than 106 dB (SPL) "at close range", among the loudest of all insect-produced sounds. Lovely!

Ahhh!!! The cicadas!! I still have a ringing in my ear from those horrible bugs. When we first moved out to Omaha, we thought it was the power lines right by our house. One part of Omaha I do not miss!
too bad i can't miss them yet because kentucky seems to be filled with them as well :)
That is hillarious--I was going to say the same thing as Angela that we thought they were the power lines. Next year you can laugh at those that still have to endure those rotten little bugs.
Those are some freaky lookin' bugs. I've actually never seen one close up before. So I am excited to hear you will be in utah next week! If you have time in between your visit to the greek festival to get the much anticipated cheese triangles, you should stop by and say hi. I would like that.
Andersons-
Well I have to say I don't miss the Cicadas at all. I thought that was an odd thing when we were living there and yes it did get quite annoying at times. Don't worry not too much longer and they will stop Screaming right. Well thanks for the Happy Birthday I had a great day, Jimmy BBQed for me and surprised me with friends over that night to eat Cinnamon Rolls and play Settlers. So I sent you a Thank You Card but thanks again for sending us our Temp Gauge. You guys are such awesome friends. We miss you and hope you end up living close to us someday. Ethan is growing up so fast he is a doll. I love the Tent Faces those are great! Well keep in touch.
Thanks again,
Carly
